thank you. Is there a guide for this install using existing data drives?

Is there a simple guide for update to OMV 6?
-
I have not updated my OMV 4 install for months. There are no operating issues and everything working fine. However when I go to update it fails.
From the command line running "omv-update" there are errors:
CodeErr:14 https://dl.bintray.com/openmediavault-plugin-developers/arrakis stretch Release 404 Not Found Err:15 https://dl.bintray.com/openmediavault-plugin-developers/arrakis-docker stretch Release 404 Not Found Hit:17 http://httpredir.debian.org/debian stretch-backports InRelease Reading package lists... What is a possible solution? I am linux challenged...
thank you for anything that may help

Thanks KM0201... used angry ip scanner... it identified my omv ip addresses very clearly. I used them for browser access and everything worked out fine...
BACK IN BUSINESS!!!

Thank you @KMO201... i will try this later tonight and post any results... thank you for your help!

thanks...
@rycoaaron...
"Why are you using the ip address instead of the system name? That is the purpose of dns."
I had used ip address for web gui access. How to use system name? How to determine system name? What is system name?

Hi, i just had a new xfinity router installed. I have access to files and shares via windows file browser but no access to omv using old ip address.
Using win cli, i see that old ip addresses are not there. tested listed ips for browser access... does not work...
Any ideas where to start. Cannot use putty with old ip addresses...
thank you

WD 10tb backup drives, connected to the box when needed for backup, the OMV usb rsync backup mounts automatically and unmounts after backup is finished. Can be configured in OMV for different parameters. Easy to use.

I am no authority, but the logical explanation could be your SSD via USB. Don't see how this could be a OMV failing. Maybe a different USB port, or install an m2. on a PCI card.

I did have a question about your 6 drives setup using snapraid. So if I understood correctly from another conversation, snapraid will only permanently persist changes when it is executed otherwise you can revert changes? Or perhaps I didn't get it at all? Could you explain snapraid and union?
If i remember correctly, any deletions or changes will not be permanent until you "synch" to update your system. Union is for pooling and creating volumes that can be distributed to different drives , but accessed through one interface. Also, my understanding is that the union will distribute files to most empty disk. SO, in short, you don't have to go from disk to disk to find a file or directory, instead they are presented in one interface.
Please consider I am not a linux pro in any fashion, i am a photographer and this OMV nas storage system offered me the easiest to use option for novices like me. So, my short explanations may be invalid, but for me this is the best option for a NAS system.
And, this forum is FANTASTIC for any level of help you may need...

I have two boxes with no raid cards, not needed, one w/16gb ram, the other with 24gb/ram, one with two cpus and one with one cpu. both hardware works with nothing stressed. No raid hardware because this is feature of the software.
One config is raid five w/four drives, and the other is six drives using snapraid and union (ext4 files). Provides all benefits of zfs... drives are not stripped, and easily swapped out if fails...two parity drives and 4 data drives provides protection and no dead files...
The raid five box is faster because of striping drives, providing fast content for video and photoshop work and the snapraid box is for files that are rarely accessed, deep storage for archiving.
Both boxes are connected to usb backup drives for easy to use rsynch backups as needed,
Overall, best webgui interface and remember the original freenas developer dropped that project and started OMV because he felt more options with debian>...

Just an update...i had 133 gb of log files (syslog &daemon.log)...deleted older ones, was then able to use first-aid, running "apt-clean" "clear wbgui cache", then able to open admin web gui, then i disable clamd "on access scans" for all drives, which stopped continuous erros in both log files... Now back to normal operation...
-
No need to re-install...deleted old syslog and daemon.log files that were total 133gb...the ran firstaid to "apt clean", "clear webgui cache", then able to access web gui, then turned off clam "on access scans"...this stopped continuous errors in both log file...
Back to normal with no need to re-install!!!
-
Okay, disabled clam on access scans for all drives, this stopped the errors in both logs! I think i dodged a re-install bullet...thnks again my friend.
-
I am getting somewhere... ran first aid clean apt, cleared web gui cache, and now i am able to get back into my web gui...
Thanks for your help!!
-
significant difference...went from 133gb to 2 gb
-
thnks, i'll start there
-
should i just delete these huge log files, freeing up my system for basics? I can't even change logins, or use first aid becaquse here is no space...
-
nothing to do with NeverWinter Vault. Simply the name of one of my boxes, one is vault, this one is nwvault...
could this be clamd issues?
