Hello all,
a hard disk has been throwing SMART errors for the last three days.
[SAT], ATA error count increased from 13 to 15
I have already ordered a new one, but it is still on its way. And hopefully it is the harddisk itself, and not other components.
The affected disk was mounted as /dev/sdd. Today, however, I briefly saw that it was listed in the system as /dev/sdh. And my raid has one less disk. After a reboot is it again /dev/sdd but not in the Raid 5.
I think it makes no sense to include the defective disk in the raid again. And I currently have no option via the interface.
Since I have never had and done this before:
What is the best way to proceed once I have the new disk?
Backups of all data on the RAID are of course available on external hard disks.
Is it sufficient:
1) to replace the harddisk
2) In the overview of the harddisk to "wipe" the disk
3) will then the harddisk will be listed under the point "Recover" in the Raid at the Interface?
Thanks for helping
Vuke
