Another user of an old version here.
OMV 2.1 stone burner , running on an AMD AthlonII X3 455 processor. No fancy RAID, just 4 WD Red harddrives "grouped" together as a RAID 5.

I was going to update to ver3 and then ver4 so BIG thanks for letting people know that is not a good idea.

But now I'm wondering if there is anything to be really gained by updating at all. Are there security problems with OMV2.1 that will not pass a HIPPA audit?

turns out it is OMV 2.1 , 2015. {shrug} what can i tell you , this was a set-it and forget-it. It worked as a NAS just as we needed unlike other NAS OS's at the time. And the OS never failed, it ran for at least 2 years without a reboot. It was the eSata that gave in to gravity and can no longer maintain it's lock into the port :(

the eSata SSD i was using as the boot disk stopped working. Will i be able to mount the harddrives with data intact if i create a new boot disk? I still have the installation USB but it doesn't display the version number when i started it up.
I think it was 2 years ago that i set this up.

addendum: the installation usb returns Debian 3.2.65-1 to uname -a .
