I'm getting an error message when accessing logs:

    Error #0: exception 'OMV\ExecException' with message 'Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C; export SYSTEMD_COLORS=0; journalctl --quiet --no-pager --priority='notice' SYSLOG_FACILITY=23 SYSLOG_IDENTIFIER='smbd_audit' --output=short 1>/tmp/logfilepbdkPt 2>&1' with exit code '1': ' in /usr/share/php/openmediavault/system/process.inc:175 Stack trace: #0 /usr/share/openmediavault/engined/rpc/logfile.inc(73): OMV\System\Process->execute() #1 [internal function]: OMVRpcServiceLogFile->getList(Array, Array) #2 /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc/serviceabstract.inc(124): call_user_func_array(Array, Array) #3 /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc/rpc.inc(86): OMV\Rpc\ServiceAbstract->callMethod('getList', Array, Array) #4 /usr/sbin/omv-engined(536): OMV\Rpc\Rpc::call('LogFile', 'getList', Array, Array, 1) #5 {main}

I think at this point I try a clean install of OMV again and see how I go. I've really appreciated all the assistance I have got, it's pretty impressive really.

Thanks heaps for your responses guys.

This is the output from systemctl status smbd.service -l, so it appears it is running.

    root@sulaco:/# systemctl status smbd.service -l
    ● smbd.service - LSB: start Samba SMB/CIFS daemon (smbd)
    Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/smbd)
Active: active (exited) since Tue 2017-04-04 20:14:40 AEST; 15h ago

    Apr 04 20:14:40 sulaco smbd[7516]: Starting SMB/CIFS daemon: smbd.
Apr 04 20:14:40 sulaco systemd[1]: Started LSB: start Samba SMB/CIFS daemon (smbd).

Hmm very interesting. Its a clean install of OMV, I have not altered anything.

    Here's the output:

    root@sulaco:/# systemctl status smb.service -l ### shows status
    ● smb.service
Loaded: not-found (Reason: No such file or directory)
    Active: inactive (dead)
    root@sulaco:/# systemctl start smb.service -l ### starts

    root@sulaco:/# systemctl stop smb.service -l ### stops
Failed to stop smb.service: Unit smb.service not loaded.
    root@sulaco:/# systemctl restart smb.service -l ### restarts
Failed to restart smb.service: Unit smb.service failed to load: No such file or directory.

    And here is /etc/samba/smb.conf,

Ok, I've come back to this as I'm getting frustrated using FTP to copy files from my server.

I've completed all the steps listed above, no cheese.

On my Ubuntu machine I get the error message 'Failed to retrieve share list from server: Connection refused' when I try and access my OMV appliance, which rules out a windows based problem.

    Any other ideas guys?

New share setup as far as I know, I installed a new OMV system drive as the old one died so reinstalled a fresh copy. Nothing as far as I know was migrated across from the old system. As mentioned when I reinstall a version of stoneburner I don't have any issues with SMB shares. Its quite strange.

Oh and I used the web interface..

    Hi all,

I'm having issues with SAMBA on the new version, I've tried rolling back to previous version 2.1 with the same settings it works fine, I can access my shares on my windows 10 machines. Same settings on 3.0.58 and nothing shows on the network. Are there any new settings I need to do for the new version?
I'm fairly new to all this so please excuse my lack of information, I'm hoping the answer is something obvious.
