  • Format Raid 5 - 15 TB

    Hi,


    i still looking into this problem. I created a virtual enviroment with same setup (6x3TB Disks). Raid 5 with ext4 is no problem to mount it normaly.


    Is something wrong on my hardware?


    Mainboard: P8H77-V LE - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H77V_LE/
    CPU: Core™ i3-3220
    RAM: DIMM 2 GB DDR3-1333 (total 4GB)
    SSD: SSDNow V300 2,5" SSD 60 GB (SYSTEM)
    HDD: Seagate ST3000VN000


    The SSD is connected via USB or a cheap PCI/SATA card.
    The HDD Drives are connected to the 6 internal SATA interfaces.


    The Mainborard offers UEFI Bios....


    I hope somebody can help me with the fact i can't format a RAID 5 created DISK array.

    Hi,


    in the meantime i did some investigations. I reinstalled omv.


    mount one disk with filesystem (ext3,ext4,xfs,jfs) -> working
    raid 0 (ext3,ext4,xfs,jfs) -> working
    raid 1 (ext3,ext4,xfs,jfs) -> working


    raid 5 with tree disks (ext3,ext4,xfs,jfs) -> NOT working (same with all 6 disks) Error 4000
    With a storage space from 5.46 TB this depends not on the 16TB limit...


    can please somebody help me. I need the raid 5 setup of the disks.

    i used knoppix and gparted to create a partition and filesystem. This worked very good.


    But i can't mount the partition into the omv system via web gui.


    on the command line i got this:

    root@networkstorage:/media# mount -t ext4 /dev/md127 /media/bigdisk/
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/md127,
       missing codepage or helper program, or other error
       In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail  or so

    Hi everybody,


    i setup a new openmediavault storage with 6 x 3 TB disks. All disks in a raid 5.
    The State of the raid is "clean". Next step is to put a filesystem on this disks.
    But this is not working via gui.


    I don't think this is a openmediavault issue because on the command line i'm also not able to create a filesystem on this raid.


    i tried cfdisk and fdisk with one big partition but i only got a smaller one.


    I hope somebody is able to help me.

  • RSync start at system start

    Hi All,


    many thanks for this gread project! For me is RSync very well.


    My openmediavault server is not running all time. I start it on diffrent times.
    Is it possible to start a rsync job on every server startup?
