Seems like almost every time I boot or reboot, /dev/md0 [RAID10] starts clean, checking.
Sometimes takes and hour or so of high drive activity.
S.M.A.R.T reveals all drives on system good status.
Any idea what I can do to check what is going on with this?

Why are you hesitant when the guy who wrote them says it is ok? The compose plugin is the safest one. Even if a reinstall overwrote the database (it won't), you would still have your compose file and volumes on the filesystem.

Once that is done is it safe to install all my missing plugins via the Plugins-menu? I am hesitant to do it because I am afraid it will clear/overwrite my current configurations especially regarding docker compose and its containers.

Since the uninstall removes the repo, you have to reinstall it the normal, new install way. OMV-Extras.org Plugin

I would be curious if netplan apply would've fixed it. OMV does not need to be installed for networking to work. So, I'm not sure why your network didn't come up. Most of netplan is python. So, it is possible the bad python update broke netplan…
