Have you tried adding a cpu limit to the compose?

Example below. Plenty of info on this stuff on internet.

Worth a try to see if that prevents the cpu overloading

    Good points,

I actually did #1 about a week ago. Along with a full clean up of the heat sink and fan. They were choked up. And the CPU was dry.

Seems that I’m destined to finally trash some components.

    Thanks

Depending on age, your CPU might need to have it's thermal grease replaced (several years may dry out OEM grease). Also the heat sink / fan might be clogged with dust, etc.

Depending on age, you may have electrolytic capacitors drying out on the…

    Thanks macom,

I tried the ping to Debian, no packet loss.

I installed memtest86 on a USB and set the bios to boot from USB, mb won’t recognize the USB (tried several ports) and eventually boots into OMV and then hangs occasionally.

    I’ll try and get…

It won't hurt trying to use the built vpn method of your router. You won't need the bridge network as you're then directly "talking" to the vm and not trying to talk from omv to the vm.

I finally managed to update from v5 to v6 (see my previous thread for info about that).
After confirming that it updated successfully, I ran another omv-upgrade, but that has problems with the "archive.debian.org" repositories.
    Also due to that

I could then do a omv-upgrade and then a omv-release-upgrade and was on OMV 6 without a problem.

I have no clue why that did not work the…

I have also VPN possibility in my router I think (Asus Expert Wifi EBG15), but probably it would't help my problem, since I've already tried WireGuard and Tailscale. I think it is a network issue related to the VM (bridge network). Using Nabu Casa…
