I had already looked at the .bashrc and .profile files, did not notice anything strange. Looks I was wrong. Deleted both of them and replaced with ones in /etc/skel and issue is resolved.

Does the user have some weird .profile or .bashrc or .netrc setup? I really don't think this is OMV causing it. I would try creating another temporary user and try that new user. -
