Had same error:
user interface still gave errors while attempting to apply the CPU power configuration changes. I told the GUI to undo the CPU power configuration changes, and all is now fine.

This bit me on my ReadyNAS box, and on my QNAP box, both of which are older processors. The CPU power update failed to apply in the GUI.
I went to SSH, and used apt to install the new CPU power updates.
