After testing, I can confirm the answer of dsm1212:

I have never tried it, but I would suspect you may run into major issues with the RAID 5 due to the speed differences in the USB vs SATA connections. This could result in poor performance and possibly data inconsistencies and loss if you are trying to… -

Since the issue is no longer reproducible and omv-regen is working correctly after reconfiguration, we’ll leave it there.
There is no evidence of a functional problem in omv-regen, and the weekly cleanup code path cannot reach the reported lines.
