[SOLVED] ISO 2.1 cannot boot on VMware

  • Hi,
I just downloaded the 2.1 ISO from sf.net. I am confident that the downloaded file is OK since I verified the MD5.
Despite that, I cannot boot from the ISO on a VMware VM I am trying to create.
I also cannot mount the ISO image from OSX ("no mountable file systems"), but I can extract the files with an unarchiver utility, apparently without any errors.
I will do further tests with a linux box as soon as I can, but I felt like asking in the meantime.
    Thanks

My server is running ESXi 6.0.0u2 and boots the 2.1 ISO just fine. I have also used it in VMware Player. Not sure what problem you are having.

  • OK, I found out. I inadvertently chose "Other linux 3.0 64-bit" as a VM type. I really can't figure out why at the moment, but this prevented the image from booting. Good to know :)
