Installing additional ram and swap space

  • I built an OMV on an HP54L yesterday. Unfortunately the extra memory I ordered was bunk, but I went ahead with the install. It looks like the OMV installer creates swap space at 2:1 to physical ram.

So my question is this, once I've updated the ram, is there known good way to resize the partitions? I'm thinking I can just put in a gparted usb disk and resize the main and the swap partitions (there is plenty of space on the drive for these operations). However I wanted to ask first, as I didn't find much about adding ram after the fact in the forums.

gparted will work just fine. I don't think you really need to change it though.

  • Need to change it? No - will OCD because my swap is not double my ram keep me up at night... probably.
