Obsolete/broken links in Documentation, How to help fix them...

  • Hi everyone.

    I'm new user and I've been delving into the script files and their documentation (unfortunately, the lack of it) of omv for a week or so. I found a few of broken links from the documentation that I hope gets either fixed, or removed entirely. Some of the links can still be read trough The Wayback Machine so it's not entirely lost yet. So it might be a good idea to copy the information to official docs and then fix the links or just brutally change the links to Wayback Machine ones.

    Omv version: 3.0.89 (Erasmus)

    List of dead links and TWBM snapshots if any:
    From a file: "/usr/share/openmediavault/mkconf/collectd"
    Line 24: http://www.uvm.edu/~bcodding/ticker/archives/33 -> https://web.archive.org/web/20…odding/ticker/archives/33
    Line 27: https://jeremy.visser.name/201…nable-caching-in-collectd -> https://web.archive.org/web/20…nable-caching-in-collectd

    I've contacted Jeremy Visser regarding the second link, if it can be revived, or if he allows to copy the information to another place for documentation purposes.

    In general I'd like to know the best course of action regarding stuff like documenting the project.

    I've had way too much trouble trying to figure out relevant information regarding the configuration files and how everything's setup, so If I plow trough it, I'd like to know if there's any one place the information could be added/updated to? And if the forum is the best way to contact dev's regarding this topic of documentation?

    For links in scripts, you could submit a pull request to the OMV github. Other documentation, I would say the forum is a good place. Do you plan on doing development? I can have you added to the developer's forum.
