HowTo: Fever°-RSS-Solution runs within OMV!

  • Hey Guys!

Maybe that's little offtopic, maybe not.

We're living in a Knowledge Economy. One of my personal needs is a program, that's collecting and organizing RSS- or Atom-Feeds for me. Than I can read them within my browser or in apps on my iOS-devices. My solution is named "Fever°" developed by Shaun Inman. I'm using it since April 2013 and can't live without it.

Since we've OMV-Plugins for a website and MySQL-Databases, I gave it a try in OMV. It work's. What you've to do:

    Install Plugins "Website" and "MySQL"
    Create a MySQL-Database
open the command-line and type in:

    Code
    apt-get install unzip
    cd /media/path/to/your/webside/folder
    wget http://feedafever.com/gateway/public/fever.zip
    unzip fever.zip
    chmod -R 777 fever

Then go to your website, in my case: https://omv:8181/fever/boot.php - don't forget the "boot.php".

Now fever is installing its "Compatibility Suite" and is checking the server. There is one little problem "This server does not push content to the browser as it becomes available." - this is only effecting the progress-indicator. But it works.

After entering the database-credentials, Fever° says: "Congratulations, this server is compatible!" Now you can buy Fever° for 30 bugs and you're good to go.

Downside on Fever° at this time: Support is laggy, but the reason is understandable.
