Hello there!
I was successfully running an OMV installation on LGA775 hardware, which was inefficient, noisy and way too much energy consuming, so I did upgrade to a new configuration:
- Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H
- Intel i5 4460
- 1x 8GB Kingston ValueRAM
- LSI SAS 9207 8e (https://www.lsi.com/products/h…ages/lsi-sas-9207-8e.aspx)
- the same old 6x4TB WD Red I was using before, RAID 6
- Toshiba Q-Series Pro 256GB SSD for the OS
- 650W bequiet! power supply
As soon as I booted up OMV, it did start rebuilding the RAID 6 at reasonably high speed, more than 90.000K/s minimum.
It does this well until it reaches about 16% rebuild - on this point, the whole system seems to freeze, it stops being available on the network and even stops the cursor blinking on the connected monitor.
I thought the temperature of the LSI HBA could be an issue, so I did open the case and pointed a ventilator directly towards it - but nethertheless, the system keeps freezing at rebuild.
I also did boot the machine with memtest86, it completed all tests with 0 errors.
Do you have any advice for me? I'm currently pretty screwed.
Thank you so much!
