max length of filenames/pathes in encrypted extfs ?

    Normally, if the filesystem is encrypted, I would assume 0 characters. After all, the filesystem is encrypted...


    Decrypted typically 4096 chars path + 255 chars filename. Same as normal.


    However there may be some encryption methods for which this is not true.


    Exactly how do you intend to encrypt the filesystem?

    Be smart - be lazy. Clone your rootfs.

    It's a shame but I don't know yet how (because I am totally new to OMV).....



    I came to know that it can e done like the following:



    The process is:

    • install the plugin
    • in storage | encryption

      • add a new drive


      • unlock the drive
    • in storage | filesystem

      • create a filesystem


      • mount the filesystem
