Need some help for upgrade from 1.17 --> 2.19

  • After some month I'm now more active with my NAS and OMV again. :)

I'll try to upgrade to 2.19 as describes here by Volker : Upgrade to OMV 2.x

There I can read : To make sure you're running the latest OMV 1.x Version, read this thread to check for a rare problem.

My system is 1.17 and not the last 1.XY version ( 1.19 ) which was available in the past.

Entered at CLI omv-update and got error - > see scrennshot

    My questions:

Should I delete the /etc/apt/apt.conf in my case too as decribed by ryecoaaron here ?

OMV 1.18 CRON-APT Error: The value 'stable' is invalid for APT::Default-Release as such a release is not available in the sources

What else I should do ? Unmout my data drives, delete users ?

I hope you didn't update to jessie with that bad apt.conf file. Definitely delete the file and post the output of: cat /etc/debian_version

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.2 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4 | scripts 7.0.1

omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

  • Have not yet deleted apt.conf file.

Just checked with the cat command. I've 7.8 - I think it's Wheezy.

What will now be the right way to continue with my udpdate to OMV 2.19 ?

O.k. I learned to delete apt.conf file and than run the two commands from the CLI

For secutity reasons I will unplug my data drives. No unmount and erasing of the users is necessary,
    then :

    CLI :
    1. omv-update
    2. omv-release-upgrade
    3. Plug in the datadrives
    4. Reboot the system

That's the coplete rigtht way and 'm on the air with 2.19 ?

    omv-release-upgrade runs omv-update.

All of the plugins in 1.x are available in 2.x. VDR was split into two plugins. So, you may need to install vdr-extras.
