Copy and paste in linux

I have tried to copy and past in Ubuntu Linux using putty and this didn't work.
Googled the problem and yes there is a problem using putty, since copy and paste do not work in the Linux version of Putty.
For Linux users , use the terminal and type the following "ssh root@[ip address of you server]".
You can copy and past to external programs.
Just be sure to leave the terminal open before you paste.
