How to install?

I have installed the openmediavault plugins but there is nothing for AFP? There is an itunes DAAP one which fails to install because it cannot get certain files.

I tried from a blog on openmediavault to install via ssh but it says 'aptitude: command not found'

How then do I install AFP please?

OK found it but when trying to install it says this:

Could not get lock /var/cache/apt/archives/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)

Restarted, got further then this:

Failed to fetch http://packages.openmediavault…lt-netatalk_0.4.7_all.deb Something wicked happened resolving 'packages.openmediavault.org:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)

For AFP you need to install the netatalk plugin. SMB/CIFS works to apple machine too.

If you changed to static (fixed) ip you need to set you DNS server too. It is the ip address of your router for most people. (e.g 192.168.1.1)

/system/network then on right the DNS Server tab int he OMV web-gui.

This probably why your system is not finding packages

PS- Stick with apt-get (APT) for package management. Aptitude is not installed. OMV uses APT for package management and it is best to stick with that.
