[SOLVED] Static IP gets dropped

    I would guess it is because the kernel is not communicating correctly with the firmware on the nic. But why the os would request an dynamic ip??? Maybe connection is lost and it cannot connect to it's designated static ip. So then it tries to acquire a dynamic ip.

    Well, I've been running just over five days since doing the backport. So far, no dropped IP, and no DHCP messages in the log. That may have done the trick. Hope I'm not jinxing myself by posting this :0! Thanks a bunch guys for helping me solve this.
