latest rock64 ayufan image not working

I am using the stretch-openmediavault-rock64-0.7.11-1075-armhf.img.xz with my rock64.
It works!

The latest image stretch-openmediavault-rock64-0.8.0rc10-1125-armhf.img.xz does not work.

I can see the board's IP on my network but I cannot open the OMV WebGUI.

So what? Latest release is 0.7.9 -- this is expected to work: https://github.com/ayufan-rock…-build/releases/tag/0.7.9

All more recent images there are pre-releases and as such only suitable for developers or experienced testers wanting to help improve the images. Also ayufan doesn't read here so in case you want to contribute you need to join him on Pine64 IRC or forum. But unless you're very experienced and able to provide an insight why specific stuff doesn't work as it should such feedback might be even counterproductive.

Ayufan is a master of build automation. His releases are created and published without user intervention and as such it's quite normal that some of them might not even boot at all.

TL;DR: As a user download only ayufan images tagged as release and skip everything tagged pre-release.

Edit: Of course using the Armbian based OMV image for Rock64 is also an idea (tested release): https://sourceforge.net/projec…ngle%20Board%20Computers/

Thanks for the clarification!

I completely ignored the pre-release tag!!!! Oh man, what a blooper

On the other hand I am glad that happened because I did't recognize that I am using a pre-release built at the moment.

This happened because pine64.org had a link to the Release notes on ayufan Linux github and I happened to use the first image on top (which happened to be 0.7.11).

Yeah, Pine64's website admin does really harmful things since years like linking to the wrong releases or even including wrong releases into their own Etcher fork. Which is both funny and sad at the same time given how great the (unpaid) community around Pine64 products is and how easy it is to 'trash' their work by doing paid administrative jobs the lazy/careless way...

I've added a notification on their website.
I hope it can be a little help for other users. It's easy to make mistakes in a completely new domain.

Since I'll do a fresh omv install anyway, I am curious to try the Armbian based OMV image.

Would I notice any difference between Armbian and the stretch image?

No. It's both 'Debian Stretch' and the important stuff happens somewhere else (I tried hard to commit all the relevant Armbian changes to ayufan's images as well: https://github.com/ayufan-rock…mmits?author=ThomasKaiser)
