VMWare and iSCSI

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this error on OMV ?

OMV 5 is Debian 10. So if the configs are the same (are they identical?), I don't know why it wouldn't work. I also couldn't help with a windows client.

  • I found the error!
All characters for target name have to be lowercase!

Can you please create in the tgt plugin a check for the input, that all characters for the target name ist lowercase, or automatically change them to lowercase?

Yep. That is an easy fix.

  • Thanks for the steps, works like a charm, wonder if these steps should be on the main page of the plugin, took me sometime to reach here

    • Enable the tgt plugin in the Settings tab of the TGT plugin

Here is a good how to as well - https://www.tecmint.com/setup-…nd-initiator-on-debian-9/

Excellent plugin. The connection is made without problem with Windows 10.

But I have a trouble, and it is the transfer speed.

I currently use OMV 5 with Raspberry Pi 4, and the transfer rate is 1 Gbps (+ -115 MB / s) using SMB. But when I use the iSCSI protocol, the speed does not go above 40MB / s.

    Same Drive, two Logical Volumen.

    Check Attachments.

The install script has a cron job that uses ionice to set the class to realtime for ftp, nfs, and smb. This is probably why smb is fast and iscsi isn't. https://github.com/OpenMediaVa…/blob/master/install#L415
