i just made a new FTP service and i cannot select my new HDD
it might be because i mounted it outside OMV so the rest of the system can use it and it not be weird
i also have a unplugged HDD that i havent gotten around to plugging back in to unmount it so its still in the system just not plugged in

That is the problem. You need to use the UI to mount the file system, otherwise it can not be used to create shared folders.
