Setup openmediavault-nut - USB permission problem with my APC 750 and

  • With one of the last updates I the system has a USB permission problem with my APC 750i.

    Code
root@nas:/etc/nut# upsdrvctl start Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.8.0 Network UPS Tools - Generic HID driver 0.47 (2.8.0) USB communication driver (libusb 1.0) 0.43 libusb1: Could not open any HID devices: insufficient permissions on everything No matching HID UPS found Driver failed to start (exit status=1)

    Output of: `journalctl -u nut-driver-enumerator`

On my system I have installed OMV 7.4.3-1 (Sandworm) and openmediavault-nut 7.0.3-2

  • After a long research on the Internet to find a reason for the error and testing, I suspect that it is the USB cable.

After plugging in the USB cable several times, I see the two errors in the output of dmesg:

    device descriptor read/64, error -71

    and

device not accepting address 18, error -71

    full output of dmesg:

I will continue to search for the solution and share my findings here!

If anyone knows a setting to assign an address to the UPS so that the error above does not occur, I would be grateful!
