Aha!
I have an idea. On Vultr, I created a Block Storage and assigned it to my server.I then installed OMV to the Block Storage as the boot drive, then want to use the server as the storage drive.
However, of course my public IP is pointing at my storage drive (the server) rather than the block storage. Is that correct?
I need to figure out how can I point to the Block Storage to log into OMV. I've never used Block Storage before.
I'm asking Vultr and will report back.
This is due to OMV not allowing the system and the storage to be on the same drive.
Thank you

I did yes, a full install from the ISO. Doing again now.....
Could this be the problem? (blurred out actual public IP). I am not sure what I should have here
https://i.imgur.com/Ft8zCzW.png
It has say 132.455.33.43 as my ip address and for the domain name it has say 455.33.43.vultr.com
I had it at localhost on my last install. This is a public facing server, not on my home network. Would I put localhost?

That gave me :
nginx:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 1.18.0-6.1
Version table:
1.18.0-6.1 500
500 http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye/main amd64 Packages
and
gave me :
-bash: nginx: command not found

Brilliant, thank you.
I ran it and got this:
Unit nginx.service could not be found.
That's after a fresh install. Why would it not kick off and run do you think?
Thanks again

Hi all,
What web server does OMV use and how can I check it's running when I SSH in?
Is it apache? If I try :
`sudo service httpd status`
I get:
`Unit httpd.service could not be found.`
Thank you

Hi all,
I've setup omv but it's not showing on port 80.
So I've contacted support at Vultr to ask if it's a firewall issue.
I've asked as I can open their web based terminal and see the command line staring at me with:
`Debian GNU/LINUX 11 OMV tty1
OMV login:`
However, if I use admin / openmediavault it fails on attempt. Same with admin / (myownpasswordIset)
I've tried root as the username also, still no luck.
How can I log into the system from the command line to show to vultr support that the system is running?
Thank you

Hi all,
Am in the middle of setup of a public server. It's installed at Vultr.
What domain name should I use on my public facing machine when setting up OMV?
It's suggesting for example (not real) `34.23.24.vultr.com` However, when I tried that, it didn't show me the admin web gui, despite being able to see the command line showing OMV had booted over the remote console.
What should I put in that domain name?
Thank you

I used Baikal on synology. It is a Cardav and Caldav server.
You can find a Docker for it
Hope this helps
Brilliant, thank you. Having a docker image should help. I'll investigate now. Much appreciated.

Hi all,
I realised that seeing as I'm using Syncthing on all my devices including the OMV server, I don't really use nextcloud for anything except caldav to share my contacts.
So I took a look and I found 'Radicale' but it seems quite complex to setup with OMV.
I wanted to check in to see if anyone has setup a quick and easy CalDAV server on OMV that's not nexcloud?
Any tips would be appreciated.

I'm on 4. I want to upgrade to 5. The thought of the work involved scares the hell out of me. Go with 5. It's current and will be supported for longer.

Go to your router and look at attached devices. Your ip may have changed. Did you have a static ip set in OMV? Just a guess.
Thanks for your reply. Totally stumped but last night I booted laptop and it connected to all services. I thought "ok, must be my other machine". Next day (today) I boot server again (it powers down each night automatically) and all machines are connecting. I really can't say what it was but here it is working. I DO have a static IP set though, to answer the question.
Thanks again.

Hi all,
The server is running. I restart it via hardware buttons and I get emails from monit telling me X and Y has happened. My PiHOLE is running (via docker). I can see that's working (as my DNS would fail it it weren't). It's all there.
However if I try to go to it via say 192.168.20.11:8090/ (for heimdall) or 192.168.20.11 (for OMV admin panel) nothing happens. I just eventually get a time out. I can't SSH to it either. Same problem.
I'm stumped. Restarting doesn't do anything. What can I try please, to get access again?
Thank you

Hi all,
I did a port scan on my server and received the following:
Code
Alles anzeigen$ nmap 192.168.x.x Starting Nmap 7.80 ( https://nmap.org ) at 2020-09-07 08:01 AEST Nmap scan report for 192.168.x.x Host is up (0.0022s latency). Not shown: 985 closed ports PORT STATE SERVICE 22/tcp open ssh 80/tcp open http 111/tcp open rpcbind 139/tcp open netbios-ssn 444/tcp open snpp 445/tcp open microsoft-ds 3306/tcp open mysql 5357/tcp open wsdapi 5555/tcp open freeciv 8000/tcp open http-alt 8080/tcp open http-proxy 8090/tcp open opsmessaging 8200/tcp open trivnet1 8888/tcp open sun-answerbook 9000/tcp open cslistener
HOW on earth did freeciv (game) end up there? I am sure I've not installed.
Now I'm concerned about other things with open ports. Can anyone see danger here?
Thanks so much...

Hi all,
I had a near failure this week and realised that although my FILE backups are working (photos / etc) a few things like my databases are not backed up (nextcloud db, wikiJS db, etc).
How are you all backing this data up? I found this pretty cool looking thing `prodrigestivill/postgres-backup-local` but when I search for it in the docker interface in OMV it doesn't show up. So I assume people ARE backing up. How are you doing it?
Thanks so much

Hi all,
As the title says. I decided my OMV4 had not had a base system upgrade in a while. I wanted to ensure latest security etc was in place so did a `sudo apt-get update` followed by a `sudo apt-get upgrade`.
Tried to log in on the weekend and can't. I had to connect monitor and keyboard and go in directly.
On boot there IS an error and I was able to take photos of it. Does anyone have any suggestions? (sorry for stitched image)
Thanks so much.
