I want to upgrade to 6.x. I was attempting to upgrade to 5.x first. Is this the correct approach?

I have an issue setting up 'debianutils'. I have been following below instructions to update to 5.x:

    when I run apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade, I get the following:

    Code
    Setting up debianutils (5.7-0.2) ...

    Any ideas?

I don't even know where to start. I have a myriad of issues going on and it is tough for me to say which are related.

I cannot login into the web gui. I am using the correct credentials. As I submit the login form it seems like it is working but then redirects me to login again. None of my web apps seem to be running like sonarr, plex etc. I can access the shared folders and ssh though.

Before, the login screen wasnt even loading, and i was getting an error on the page until i uploaded the cache.omv\controlpanel\login_js.json file somebody linked in another thread.

I tried to run apt-get update to see if it would resolve problems, but this does not complete. There are errors about having not enough disk space. Could this mean my boot disk is full? im pretty sure it's a 250gb drive, so this is a bit perplexing..

edit: it may be docker filling up the boot disk?

I also have been having hard disk errors that I made another thread about.. I will link it here just encase these problems are related:

    https://forum.openmediavault.o…?postID=196885#post196885

I noticed that my media server has been running slowly and sabnzbd was complaining about the disk being full. After investigating, I noticed that one of my disks was listed as not mounted. Investigating further, I found the below errors on startup and in Gparted. I am hoping somebody can advise me. Is this drive dead or is there something I can do? Thanks!!!

Hi @macom I appreciate the response. Unfortunately the solution that subzero gave in the thread you posted did not work for me.

    Any other ideas?

looking more closely at the error:

    Code
    {"response":null,"error":{"code":0,"message":"Failed to get the RPC parameters.","trace":"OMV\\Rpc\\Proxy\\Exception: Failed to get the RPC parameters. in \/usr\/share\/php\/openmediavault\/rpc\/proxy\/json.inc:47\nStack trace:\n#0 \/var\/www\/openmediavault\/rpc.php(45): OMV\\Rpc\\Proxy\\Json->handle()\n#1 {main}"}}
    • On OMV4
    • all of my web apps are functioning correctly
    • have tried resetting password via omv-firstaid
    • i am still able to login via ssh as root
    • console error https://imgur.com/a/BpbIy
    • df -h output:

Im on omv 4x, I have successfully setup tv.sys, movies.sys plex.sys to route to the corresponding web apps, but my problem is that I can no longer hit the OMV admin GUI. When i try to access the admin gui, i am routed to the top app in my multi_host file. i'd like to be able to setup omv.sys to route the admin page. any thoughts?

When I try to enable the FTP (without changing the default settings) I get the following error:

    Code
Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C; omv-mkconf proftpd 2>&1' with exit code '1': /usr/share/openmediavault/mkconf/proftpd.d/mod_core: 34: /usr/share/openmediavault/mkconf/proftpd.d/mod_core: cannot create /srv/ftp/welcome.msg: Directory nonexistent run-parts: /usr/share/openmediavault/mkconf/proftpd.d/mod_core exited with return code 2

I have recently reinstalled OMV to go from 2x to 4x. I have been using OMV for a long time with greyhole. I see there is no greyhole plugin for 4x which I was caught off guard by. I am trying to figure out what I need to do to convert my greyhole setup into SnapRaid/UnionFS. I found a thread suggesting to go the SnapRaid and UnionFs route.

I want to validate my assumptions and get some guidance on what he need to do to transition from greyhole.

    My assumptions:

    • UnionFS is for creating one large file system across multiple drives. For apps like plex, I should be pointing to the file system created by unionFS and then union will distribute the data across disks.
    • SnapRaid provides data redundancy

    Regarding my hard disks:

I have three 3TB drives and one 6TB drive that are all ~90% full. I understand I should set the 6tb drive as the parity drive as it is the biggest. Right now i'm trying to do an initial snapraid sync and i'm getting "internal server error". I think i'm doing something wrong.

    • Do I need to move all my media off of the parity drive?
    • Do I have to move my all my files from each hard disk's .greyhole folder on to a single drive?
    • Should I go a ahead and delete all the greyhole symbolic links from the "landing zone" disk?
    • Will I have to free up some space or move some files around for the initial sync to work?

    UnionFS

    • Should I add my snap raid "parity drive" to be a part of the unified file system?

    Thanks!! :D

So I don't have to configure the nginx plugin? I just interact with nginx via command line inputs? What about the DNSmasq plugin? What is that for? Do I have to do anything there?

I appreciate the guide. I am novice here, but i'd really like to get this working. =)

    Thanks,

    I am in upgrade hell.

    error code:

i've tried this to no avail:

In place upgrade 0.59 -> 1.0.21 fails with BPO kernel

I think I have a pretty basic understanding of how greyhole handles pooling: I add new files to the landingzone and symlinks are created for the other data disks. If I were to view the contents of my SMB shares, every file should be viewable regardless of what drive the data is actually on. Correct?

I'm not sure really. I used SAMBA at first then I moved to Apple Filling because it seemed better to me based on my experience. I am using transmission BT and sabnzbd to download files.

I was messing around and deleted my aufs pool last night, now and i'm looking into snapraid+ greyhole. I backed up all files before hand before I mess anything up. I no longer seem to have any problems with moving and renaming files. Is snapraid for redundancy and greyhole for pooling a good solution?

I updated backports+aufs upgrade and no dice. I'm getting a new error, much longer error. It was over 4 million characters, but here is the beginning:

if i cant get aufs and ACL to work thats not the end of the world. My main priority is to be able to manage my media. I can't move files which I download. I'm trying using FTP clients/ Apple filing. I just don't know why my permissions aren't working out. =/
