    Hi All.

I'm trying to upgrade from OMV 3-4.

Firstly, I made sure that my plugin are compatible with OMV 4. Look good (I only needed the plex plugin)

Then I backup all my files and made an image using clonezilla. Done.

Then I SSH into my machine and performed the omv-release-upgrade. Everything seem to be going smoothly and was prompted that everything is installed successfully.

Now, whenever I boot up I'm stuck in the GNU GRUB interface and can't seem to figure out how to boot into OMV 4 X( I really don't want to reinstall OMV 4 from scratch

    Regards,
    Nick

Finally after some much research, swearing and troubleshooting. I have finally found the solution

It turns out when I was trying to do an update on the server, it wasn't able to connect to the internet and ended up being a DNS issue. The way I resolved it, was setting up the DNS information in my network settings. I set the primary to my router address and the secondary to 8.8.8.8. I made sure there was a comma between the two DNS address e.g. 192.168.0.0,8.8.8.8

Ones I did that, I was able to access the Plex interface again and peform updates to my server.

Big thanks to this post and tekkbebe [RESOLVED] OMV cannot resolve DNS / cannot use repositories

From the GUI try the upgrade, but disable the firmware updates.

Where about do I do that in the GUI I have looked in the Update Management and in the OMV-Extras Repos but I can't seem to find anything.

Furthermore, whenever I do a check in the Update Management, I keep getting a error

Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C; apt-get update 2>&1' with exit code '100': E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)E: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/

    Hi

Basically, I am experiencing never ending issues with my openmediavault server.

First issue is my Plex Server. For some reason I am unable to view anything though the web interface (See screenshot below). All I get is a message saying a server could not be found. I have tried turning on and off the service, restarting the server, updating the service (see problem two) and I'm still facing this issue. The strangest part is that any devices in my network can access the content on the Plex Server just fine (e.g. iPad, Samsung Blu Ray player).

Second issue is that whenever I try to do a update to openmediavault I keep getting errors that ceases the operation. I have attached a log file below. Basically I have tried SSH into my server and performing apt-get update but I seem to have no luck at all. Not to mention I have run the apt clean function in OMV-Extra which doesn't seem to make any difference

If anyone who can point in the right direction (that is most likely more awake then me) that can find a solution to my problem. I would greatly appreciated :)

    Hey Guys,

I've just recently made the switch from Freenas to Openmediavault and so far I've been liking it allot. While making the switch to Openmediavault, I also decided to changed my hardware. This include changing my cpu from a Intel Core 2 Duo E6500 and a ASUS ATX motherboard to a AMD C-60 using the C60m1-i motherboard. While this motherboard has everything what I wanted (low power cpu, 6 sata port, etc) there is one problem that I have ended up, when I tried to encode a video via plex, the cpu falls onto its face and it lags very bad when I try to watch TV shows over my chromecast. Yes stupid me for not researching this before, really didn't think about it when I bought the motherboard.

Now I've came across the Asrock Q2900-ITX motherboard which has a CPU benchmark or 2063 and I'm aware that plex needs a CPU of around 2000 to encode a 1080p video. I just want to ask has anyone had problem with lag with this motherboard while encoding 1080p video via plex, because I don't want to make the same mistake twice. Moreover, if anyone has any other suggestion of any other mini-itx motherboard with a low power CPU feel free to let me know.

Sorry if I'm not very clear, I've just had a long day at work and really tired.
