    That means with dd image, you have to create the partitions manually. Or you do a fresh installation and then copy the image to the root partition.

    With the ddfull image you just restore the image and any partitions will be created.

    1. Create a shared folder in the GUI of OMV
    2. Add the shared folder to the smb service
    3. Create a user in the GUI of OMV
    4. Give the user permissions on the shared folder
    5. Open the shared folder in WIndows File Explorer
    6. Copy the directories and files to the shared

    Those files are owned by the user www-data, so you can't delete them. You will have to do it from CLI with the root user or with sudo.

    That line is telling you the permissions of the hard drive's mount folder. Those permissions are always root root rwxr-xr-x. So to fix that in both mount folders you must run these commands:

    chmod 0755

    yes, but /etc/login.defs was not necessary to be updated. Just increasing the range in smb options did the work.

    By the way, sssd worked for me just to login ssh; But else, nothing was working as expected. SMB login was not possible.…
