It will error, simply because mdadm doesn't know it's been removed, that's if it has, this would suggest that mdadm still has that drive in it's… -

Not necessarily based upon your first quote about your machine stopping, mdadm could see that as a consistent fault… -

Confirmed, the drive is already removed, as you can see below.
Since this situation occurs, my NAS it stops and turns itself off.
When turned on (manually), I'm receiving mails like this one:

Edit: I looked at my Proxmox system and I'm not using qcow2 but instead using raw (conf). Perhaps I should just do a backup from Proxmox itself. -
