Power management

  • If I want to shut down the server at say 18:00 hours and then reboot it at 07:00 will this work.

Or do I need to use Standby instead of shutdown?

Not sure if the Raspberry will reboot after a shutdown.

a raspberry pi doesn't have standby mode, there is no acpi.

from my experience rpi don't shut down, you can halt the system (stop the os) and safely remove the power (unplug) without any risk.

I wouldn't concern about a rpi running 24/7 in terms of electricity consumption, is just around 2.5W i guess.

  • Yes you are right, I was just experimenting with the many features of Open Media Vault.
With a power draw of about 5 watts or less its lower then a night light bulb.
I do have the 2 drives spinning down after a short absence of use.
I does shut down the program. (can't login until I reboot). but never restarts which now i see as normal.
Thank you for the quick response.
