Transmission not starting properly on boot

  • Hey there,

I recently upgraded to omv 3.0.

I am using tranmission for a long time now. After the upgrade i had an issue triggering some error message. I uninstalled transmission and installed it again, which fixed it.
I saved my torrents by making a backup of /var/lib/transmission-daemon.

This is where the second issue appeared. Somehow transmission wasn't starting as it should. Plus the init.d script wasn't working, throwing something like :4 change not found. Line 4 doesn"t contain anything critical tho...

Reinstalling transmission a second time with removing manually the init.d script got this one working.

Last issue i have now, is that transmission doesn't seem to be working at boot up. I mean the process does show up, a ps -aux shows that it is running, but i got no web interface, and the webinterface of OMV shows the service not running red dot.
Systemctl restart transmission-daemon fixes that too.

Any idea why it doesn't work out of the box as it should?

In the terminal you can run

journalctl -b or if you want it into a file journalctl -b > /root/boot.log

That is the whole boot log, you can scroll all through it until you find any error related to transmission
