Update error

  • Hi,

Every now and then I update my omv box through the web interface by going to the "Update Manager", ticking everything and hitting install. Today when I tried to do that it doesn't work, and I'm not sure why. It doesn't seem to be a particular package update that it can't do, it just can't seem to update any packages in general.... any ideas how to make it so I can update again? Sorry for the newbie question...

  • Open a SSH session and type the following:

    Code
    apt-get update
    apt-get -f install
    apt-get update

If you still encounter errors via the command line, pleas post them ;)

    Greetings
    David

  • Still getting the "empty string from `/var/lib/dpkg/diversions' " error... :\

Google tells me there is normally a diversions-old in /var/lib/dpkg. Not for me :(

Would it be possible to get someone elses diversions file and replace mine with it?

  • You edited the sources file with an unpriviliged user before, iam guessing from this erro:

    Code
N: Ignoring file 'openmediavault.list.save' in directory '/etc/apt/sources.list. d/' as it has an invalid filename extension
