FTP questions?

Hello,

I would like to know if I've understood and set correctly the FTP plugin?

I use the "home directory" option for my users.
If users are member of SSH group, their SFTP access works correctly, and their default folder is their own home directory.
Is it possible to use FTP instead of SFTP?

I've enabled anonymous FTP and set a shared folder inside the shares tab.
An anonymous FTP can be etablished to this share with reading rights only.
Can I use the shares tab for others functions?

In advanced settings, what are the function of the options:
- Permit root login (Specifies whether it is allowed to login as superuser directly)
- Require valid shell (Deny logins which do not have a valid shell)

Do I have some advices about about FTP plugin?

I would also like to know the same thing. I have tried setting up the ftp plugin but my ftp client tells me that It is trying to use SFTP protocol.

ssh and sftp go together... you enable ssh to get those working

ftp and ftps go together... you enable ftp to get those working.

You need permission applied to the shared folder to access via either method.

What client are you using? winscp can use sftp, scp, or ftp.
