[rsnapshot] Error when running manually

  • Hello,

when executing the backup manually ("Play") button, I get this error:
rsnapshot encountered an error! The program was invoked with these options:
    /usr/bin/rsnapshot -c \
    /var/lib/openmediavault/rsnapshot.d/rsnapshot-c04dc9f3-aa41-4b82-8e06-1764dd072312.conf \
    59363a72-47a7-44c9-bb2c-fa410a599b58

    ERROR: Interval "c04dc9f3-aa41-4b82-8e06-1764dd072312" unknown

So, the error is clear I think:
Instead of an interval (hourly or daily), the ID of the task is passed.

I think, this is a Bug. Can anyone reproduce this?

    Greetings,
    Hendrik

Do you have one of the hourly, daily, etc set to 1?

  • Hello,

    please excuse my late repy.
    Attached you find my settings.

The behaviour has now changed. When executing manually, I do not get an immediate error, but instead this screen:

and a while later, the 'please wait' has gone or I get a timeout.
A 'success' message would be good.
Also, would it be possible to show the last status of each of each job here?

    Regards,
    Hendrik

When you have "Error Output Only" enabled, the script doesn't output anything. That is why you get a blank screen. Rsnapshot is really supposed to be run automatically. So, I don't think it needs any other columns. Just don't enable Error Output only if you want display.

  • Hello,

I see your point, but I disagree.

    a) For Mail Notification "Lights Out Philosophy" does make sense. One stops reading Mails if they come in every day even if all is fine
    b) When checking the status actively, it must be possible to determine if everything is good. This is currently not possible.

    Greetings,
    Hendrik

I see your point, but I disagree.

You are welcome to submit a pull request changing the behavior.

well, I thought it would be good to come to an agreement first.

I'm not saying you idea is wrong. I just think it is a lot of work to add this manual feature when the plugin is meant to be automatic. Not many people run the jobs manually other than an initial test run.

I'll have a look. Could you hint me at the right place to start in github?

It would require php, bash, and javascript changes. So, pretty much most the files in the plugin
