network share indexing avaialble?

I haven't touched windows server for quite sometime I admit... but I'm not in the position where I would like to have my win8 clients be able to index content on the NAS (OMV).

The reason why I mention windows server is because according to this post:

network indexing is not available out of the box but there's a server component that can be queried by win8.

I'm wondering if this is something that exists for linux/OMV already

Apparently this is a function available with SAMBA 4.0.
I'll wait until OMV 1.0 is out as it seems to have SAMBA 4.0 in the roadmap

OpenMediaVault 1.0 uses the samba 4 version of the standard Debian Wheezy repo. As far as I know it lacks some features... the backports version has more features, but isn't supported via the GUI.

OMV 1.0 uses samba 3.6.6. samba 4 is available in backports but I'm guessing the web interface would have issues with it.

And 4.0.0~beta2+dfsg1-3.2+deb7u2 is also in the normal repo. See:

You are right. OMV is dependent on samba. Glad samba4 is a different package.
