Could be that the ram split was reset on an update. Check /boot/config.txt for that.

thanks David for the reply. the gpu-mem seems to be fine. it is 16 as i first set.
here is my config.
Code
Alles anzeigenroot@omv:~# cat /boot/config.txt # uncomment if you get no picture on HDMI for a default "safe" mode #hdmi_safe=1 # uncomment this if your display has a black border of unused pixels visible # and your display can output without overscan #disable_overscan=1 # uncomment the following to adjust overscan. Use positive numbers if console # goes off screen, and negative if there is too much border #overscan_left=16 #overscan_right=16 #overscan_top=16 #overscan_bottom=16 # uncomment to force a console size. By default it will be display's size minus # overscan. #framebuffer_width=1280 #framebuffer_height=720 # uncomment if hdmi display is not detected and composite is being output #hdmi_force_hotplug=1 # uncomment to force a specific HDMI mode (this will force VGA) #hdmi_group=1 #hdmi_mode=1 # uncomment to force a HDMI mode rather than DVI. I read about a kernel config issue that caused 100+ mb to be unavailable on the RPi2 but I haven't read about this. I would guess the RPi forum might be more helpful.

i tried updating the \boot firmware manually from https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware. this seems to fix the memory issue. from ssh i can see total memory as 483.
root@omv:~# free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 483 133 349 0 17 68
-/+ buffers/cache: 47 435
Swap: 999 0 999but updating the firmware seems to break my web ui. nginx does not seem to be running.
root@omv:~# service nginx status
nginx is not running ... failed!i tried restarting nginx but it gives me this
Coderoot@omv:~# service nginx restart Restarting nginx: nginx: the configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf syntax is ok nginx: [emerg] socket() [::]:80 failed (97: Address family not supported by protocol) nginx: configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf test failed root@omv:~#
any ideas? thanks for your awesome support.

Did you run rpi-update?
-
thanks @'ryecoaaron. that fixed it. just wondering how did rpi-update fix it? is it re downloading the firmware? i thought i did that manually.
-
Hard to say. I'm guessing you missed something. I always use rpi-update.

thanks @ryecoaaron.
