If you install it right on your SSD, it should be enabled by default. You can check that by nano /etc/fstab - there should be the "discard" parameter.
-
Out of curiosity, I just checked my fstab (OS resides on small Intel SSD) and the "discard" parameter is missing How can one edit this file to survive mkconfigs? Currently, only errors=remount-ro is setup there....the filesystem is ext4. Can anyone recommend some parameters?

n my fstab does this "discard" my fstab looks like this:
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
# / was on /dev/sda1 during installation
UUID=7a877789-3657-48e1-a37c-8bda37892e9c / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1
# swap was on /dev/sda5 during installation

# <<< [openmediavault]You can tell me what are the good parameters for SSD

You can edit the os drive in fstab without being affected by mkconf at a later time. mkconf only alters fstab between the openmediavault tags.
Here is a proper ssd line in fstab
UUID=ad37d5cd-419b-4e3c-9ddf-b73c0aeeef9c / ext4 noatime,nodiratime,discard,errors=remount-ro 0 1 -
Often problem, I was wrong in the fstab and reboot and going to correct that now will not let me, this reading fstab mode. There any way to change permissions to fstab? I have run chmod 0777 chmod 0644 without any result always the same read-only
-
What system? What is the output of mount? I'm guessing the boot partition is mounted read only or you aren't logged in as root.
-
In the end what I will do is to low level format the SSD and reinstall openmediavault installation with the stick and start again. The problem I've always had is that I can not move files from one folder to another by average transfer samba because it is locked with no Internet connection and have to return to reniciar OMV
