My 3TB External keeps randomly unmounting

  • Every day my external plugged in via USB to my Raspberry Pi unmounts with this error

    And when i try to remount i get this error

    Maybe it spins down and disconnects?? I would try ext4 instead of ntfs as well.

  • You're probably right. I made it so it never spins down, But It may just be an issue with it being NTFS. I think I'm gonna hook up another drive to and format it differently.

  • I figured it out! It turns out when i leave something connected to it i.e Samba or FTP and I don't eject it and leave it idle, it'll disconnect like it does. After always ejecting after a file transfer it's fine. Any clue why this is happening??
