Hi there,
I had to restart the OMV on a RPi after a power outage, but it now shows only ports 111 and 631. I recognize the latter as it is a CUPS server, but how do I reenable HTTP and SSH access? This one has, of course, no monitor nor keyboard.

Nothing you can do, here just restart again. If it doesn't work you'll need to connect the monitor, to see what's happening.
Hmm, it threw up lots of errors. I had to run fsck manually. Now it boots, I log in as root, and ifconfig shows I do have an IP. However it still only shows port 111 on port scan. Now port 631 disappeared.
Is the local console supposed to let "admin" log in? Because if so, it refuses to let me in, sends me right back to the username prompt.
Where should I go from
I would say your sdcard is wasted. Admin is allowed to use the local console if I recall, what about root? Can you login ?
Yes, as root, but not as admin. Why would the card go bad? Is OMV's install so fragile it breaks at the first power outage?
No, your SD card is. Did you use the flash memory plugin??? If not your card is toast.
I think I remember this plugin was installed by the last image I flashed, but currently have no way of verifying that. What does this plugin do?
What would be the next repair step to try?
Any solution, besides reflashing the SD card again?
You are right. Aaron did have that installed on the image. I don't know what advice to give on the card. When I have problems like this I just trash the card or stick, but I can afford that. You have to make the call. You should reflash because there seems to be corruption.
So basically this plugin doesn't protect against power outages? Since I am headed for yet another reflash, would there be any advice to avoid reflashing every month?

The plugin just moves certain folders of /var with high write rates to RAM. For example /var/log and others.
sdcard's depending on the quality they last in between a week and a month with omv. With the plugin there have been reports of up to 4-6 months. Since that's the time when it was created.
Just six months? Does it mean OMV is simply unsuitable for an RPi?
nobody is forcing you to use sdcard. You can use a external USB spin drive. Read again, reports are from people since the creation of the plugin 6 months ago to the present date, they might last longer. Yes omv is not suitable for an sdcard, the OS writes a lot to the disk, A LOT.
If you use an sd card I really recommend using a RTC module, as well as the flash memory plugin. This will reduce the amount of errors written to disk a lot. OMV really does not functions properly without a RTC Module. I have an RPi2 running on an SD card for about 4 months now. It is using a RTC module and the flash memory plugin.
RPi 2(RTC module): from unruly Stepchild to Wunderkind
PS- Unfortunately SD Cards and USB Sticks are not a great medium. But they are getting more reliable all the time.
Just tested my RPi 2 at the office. It is still going strong at 4 plus months. You can see from the RTC Module post it was setup around May 27th 2015.
The OMV team should really say that RTC is strongly recommended, as well as SD card for boot, and hard drive for common execution. So far it's the first time I read such a recommendation, I thought the SD card could take the load, especially a light load.
Just unplugged the common cable by accident today, and OMV is unable to boot, again. Here is a picture of the boot process:
What would cause this error? The RPi was unused at the time it got shut down.
You should be using the flash memory plugin too or you will wear out your SD in a matter or weeks.
I can't read anything on this picture. It's too small.
Just click the picture twice to zoom properly. My TV isn't that large at 27" diagonal.
I'd like to understand why even a brief power outage would render the OMV-powered Raspberry Pi completely unable to boot.
I am using the Flash memory plugin as recommended. Does this plugin also disables swap, as recommended in this blog post?
Question: does OMV on the RPi defaults to try to sync from an NTP server before everything else? And how exactly would brutally losing power and time lead to inability to reboot properly?
Thanks
