So I did fresh install due to some weird issues after updating from 0.5 and now it's getting the same error over and over. It let the system boot up with no issues after the install and it's been up, but the same errors are still rolling. I tried pulling all the drives from my raid, but still getting the same errors. Not sure where to go with this issue. I attached the syslog
Fresh install. [drm:drm_edid_block_valid] *ERROR* EDID checksum is invalid, remainder is 255

Something about the video card or monitor. Try and disconnect the monitor or the card. See if you can get webUI access, when you get there install omv-extras and try to install backport kernel. See if that fixes.
-
I booted it up once with no monitor hooked up and it never came online. I have a Super Micro board with an IMPI card installed, I might have to unrack the server and pull that card to disable all video. Not sure if that card would have anything to do with it or not.
-
If you have time in here http://dh2k.omv-extras.org/debian/testing/
you'll find an omv iso with backport kernel installed. You can try that if you cannot reach network to update or install backports kernel
-
so i got the webpage back after waiting a few hours. i installed the backport kernel, but it error'd. i noticed that my raid was syncing, not sure if that would affect the kernel install or not. after going back to omv extras i saw that the backport kernel did install. do i need to reboot or anything?
-
do i need to reboot or anything?
The new kernel will take effect after you reboot. If a raid is re-syncing i would prefer to wait until it finishes.
-
It's at 40% so I'll check on it tomorrow and reboot once it's finished.
-
the log looks to be clean now.
Do I need to do anything different going forward when I do updates or anything?
-
Don't know at what stage you're now. Did you install the backport kernel and now no errors ?
-
yeah I installed it. My raid finished syncing over night. Rebooted and now the syslog is clean
-
Ok good to know
-
i did a fresh install of opensuse, after installing bad nvidia drivers, i decided a reinstall. i had a lvm setup with xen. after install, i did a reboot while synaptics seemed to configure itself. after that i had this error again and again. my homedir was corrupted, and a reinstall didnt fix it , cause home was not touched while new install.
so either you have a bad hd, or you did something like me, like a reboot, and homedir is dirty.
maybe goto rescue system and add a fresh user and backup your data and delete old user and his homedir.
-
it seems that this is an error in the display setup, if you arrange your multiple monitors kde doesnt like, it tries to reset them , spamming this error.
