viald, did you delete the plexmediaserver folder on the data disk after you follwed those instructions to purge everything?
I did not delete /media/11a74c65-d873-4583-8b0c-20a4ec7e38e2/plexmediaserver because this is my original plex library. But I have deleted the symlink /var/lib/plexmediaserver to my library just after.
Why don't you try moving your library and then purge everything. Reinstall and then enable plex to the same drive. Stop the plexmediaserver service and then delete the new library. Copy your old library back and then start the service.
That's a good idea. I'm going to try this.
So moving the original plex library before new installation of plex plugin has solved this issue. It seems that the plugins dislikes having the plexmediaserver folder already exists on the selected volume.
But I have to get back to my first issue now, I'm still not able to sync media with smartphones. The error logs are now not the same
Jul 26, 2016 11:20:34.451 [0x7f4bcc3ff700] ERROR - LPE: unknown item 76651.

I would have to do some testing with syncing to see if I experience something similar. Maybe this is a question better asked on the Plex forums.
Maybe this link is helpful:
One of my issue regarding transcoding which can be solve with the new release of Plex is to remove the noexec option in fstab. See https://goo.gl/UcMjK2
I have to do it manually, I think that noexec is a default option used by OMV when setting volume in fstab.
If you took off the noexec option from your data drive (volume) in fstab you can put it back. The new plugin, 1.0.15, moves the codecs to the system drive. So you no longer have to remove the noexec. When you format a drive and then add a filesystem it is default in OMV to add the noxec in the fstab line. It is so if you download virus, or something else, to the data drive they will not be executable.
I know about the security matter about noexec option. But It seems that the /opt/plexcodec not really works. Removing noexec in fstab option solves all my sync issue.
I will look into this when I get some time. Hopefully this weekend. Not many people are copying movies to other devices. They are streaming them through the internet.
In my case, streaming doesn't work with the noexec option as well. Sometimes streaming as syncing needs transcoding.
With the new plugin streaming works fine with noexec. If you cannot stream there is something wrong on your system. I will test the syncing this weekend.
Sure, but it's not easy to find what's wrong. And I already installed the plugins many times.
Thanks again for your help.

You need to upgrade to at least OMV 2.x and openmediavault-plexmediaserver 1.0.15 plugin. Give me results of this:
dpkg -l | grep openm
If removing noexec from fstab solves your problem, then you are not using the openmediavault-plexmediaserver 1.0.15 plugin, or you have not properly followed the instructions for it when you installed it.
@monkeybill You didn't sort out anything and you need to learn to answer questions when you are asked.
Need output of:
dpkg -l | grep openm
and
ls -la /opt
People should always do plugin updates too. There is always a reason for an update to them.
