Is it safe to delete all the debian packages that is littering the root (/) directory?

  • Not sure if there is a way to this automatically as OMV installs new packages for plugins et al and/or upgrades itself but I see a lot of *.deb packages littering the root (/) folder. Is it safe to just to a rm *.deb?

    You must have the flashmemory plugin installed.

    rm /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/02nocache
    apt-get update

    omv 7.1.0-2 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.2 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.5 | scripts 7.0.2

    omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

  • Do I still need to delete them or after running 'apt-get update' they should have been removed automatically because they were not removed. The odd thing is that I have two installations but with the flashmemory plugin and one doesn't have this issue and the other does and both their 02nocache file are the same.

    Yes, you have to manually delete the files. Not hard though... rm /*.deb

    Maybe one was installed before the fix and the other after the fix? Not sure but it is easily fixed.
