Safely Updating Linux Kernel in 2.2.13

  • Hello. I have OMV 2.2.13 with Debian 7.11. When i checked its kernel it was 3.2. Due to my hobby I want to use Docker on my OMV machine. Unfortunately, Docker requires at least 3.10 kernel to run. Is there a safe way to update OMV 2.2.13 kernel to 3.1x version (e.g. 3.10 or 3.18)?
I saw a thread where people managed to run OMV 2 on kernel 4.x but it caused some issues and required troubleshooting. I prefer the most painless update if possible without breaking the configured system with many HDDs and services. It took me a lot of time to configure the current system and multiple plugins to work as I need. So I'm looking for the simplest way to solve that 3.10 kernel requirement.

Install omv-extras. There is a button to install the 3.16 kernel which is very well tested (same as jessie kernel).
