Hello everybody,
I would like to switch to a homemade NAS after running OMV4 on a BananapiPro + 2.5 "HDD.
requirements:
• NAS + extras for currently 3 users
• Nextcloud (+ Collabora) as dropbox replacement, backup mobile photos and other documents [always available]
• Plex media server in the home network [on demand]
• JDownloader
• dyndns-updater
• openhab (later)
Ideally, the device runs permanently in the IDLE on SSD, the HDD's are put to sleep when not in use.
Now the question is:
Does it make sense (power consumption) to get a 500GB SSD (for OMV + nextcloud-data) and store the nextclouid-data on the SSD, so that the 3.5" disks can sleep - which are usually only awakened when it comes to the MEDIA Part or a backup. For data-security i could make a sync of the nextcloud-data (SSD) to the Raid (HDD) usin cronjob.
The goal is: always achievable Nextcloud with minimal power-consumption
