Unable to setup array drives

  • Hi All,

Finally managed to set up a USB boot disk. It is a 3.0 disk and I am booting from a 3.0 port,

When the OS starts, I get the screen flooded with

    Code
mdadm: no arrays found in config file or automatically

Then: gave up waiting for root file system device
ALERT! /dev/sde1 does not exist. Dropping to a shell

I have two array 1TB drives internal that have been cleared and are fully connected and spinning.

Is this just a wait thing and the OS gives up?

That would suggest there was a problem with the install, if you install via cd once it's completed it will eject the cd and reboot using the usb.

Whilst doing the install no other drives should be connected.

Raid is not a backup! Would you go skydiving without a parachute?
