After update only SSH is available, no other services

  • Hi everybody,

    a few days ago, i tried to do an update by the webgui, but the process was giving me a lot of errors due to missing packets.

    I tried to do an apt-clean on the webgui, and after this command, i cannot connect to any of the services installed on my Hp Microserver (Plex, Jdownloader, OMV, etc) , only SSH is working.

    It seems that the system is not starting all the services connected to OMV, in fact when i reboot my microserver, after the post, the system loads very fast.

    All the omv-.... commands (omv-firstaid, etc) are not working.

    I checked the filesystem, and my system disk is not full, i have more then 300Gb available.

    Thanks in advance for help.

    ;)

    Added the Label OMV 5.x
  • In the meanwhile, searching on the forum, i paste the output of the main commands for troubleshooting:

    Code
    root@lucnas:~# apt-cache policy libc6-dev
    libc6-dev:

    Candidato: 2.28-10
    Tabella versione:

    Code
    root@lucnas:~# cat /etc/apt/sources.list

    Thanks ;)

  • Here is the list of the started services on my Hp Microserver.

    What is wrong?

    Thanks

  • Whatever you updated uninstall the openmediavault package. What is the output of:

    sudo tail -n50 /var/log/apt/history.log

    omv 5.5.13 usul | 64 bit | 5.4 proxmox kernel | omvextrasorg 5.4.2
    omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github

  • I don't see any package that would've uninstalled OMV. What do get you when you run: apt-get install openmediavault Pay attention to anything it is going to remove and maybe post before answering Y to the question.

    omv 5.5.13 usul | 64 bit | 5.4 proxmox kernel | omvextrasorg 5.4.2

  • Sorry it's in italian, but the error is that iptables has dependancies not satisfied.

  • this dependency chain could go on for a while. If this is a new install, I would re-install. Otherwise, what is the output of:

    cat /etc/apt/sources.list

    apt-get install openmediavault iptables libiptc0=1.8.2-4 libxtables12=1.8.2-4

    omv 5.5.13 usul | 64 bit | 5.4 proxmox kernel | omvextrasorg 5.4.2

  • Sorry ryecoaaron, it's not a new install.

    Code
    root@lucnas:~# cat /etc/apt/sources.list
    deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ buster main contrib non-free
    deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ buster-updates main contrib non-free
    deb http://security.debian.org/debian-security buster/updates main contrib non-free
  • I guess we found everything. I would run:

    apt-get install --no-install-recommends openmediavault iptables libiptc0=1.8.2-4 libxtables12=1.8.2-4

    This will re-install openmediavault and the database should still be there but I can't promise anything. You will have to reinstall omvextras and the two plugins you had installed.

  • Now i have the gui working, but i cannot login, this is the error when i try to login:

    Code
    Error #0:
    OMV\Rpc\Exception: Failed to connect to socket: No such file or directory in /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc/rpc.inc:141
    Stack trace:
    #0 /var/www/openmediavault/rpc/session.inc(57): OMV\Rpc\Rpc::call('UserMgmt', 'authUser', Array, Array, 2, true)

    #2 /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc/serviceabstract.inc(123): call_user_func_array(Array, Array)

    #5 /var/www/openmediavault/rpc.php(45): OMV\Rpc\Proxy\Json->handle()
    #6 {main}

    This is the end of the install log of the command you posted on your last post:

    There are some errors.

    Sorry ryecoaaron if i insist to take advantage of your patience, if you think is better to do a fresh install of OMV, please feel free to suggest it.

    Thanks

  • Since the openmediavault package did not completely install, that is why the web interface does not work. Try: apt-get -f install
