From server to Virtual Environment

  • Hi hi everyone,

I recently migrated OMV in Virtual Environment in a new installation. When I enter static IP equal to old server i get this error:

"DatabaseException: Failed to execute XPath query....." ;( ;( ;( ;(

If I assign another IP all work fine

    Thanks everyone for the help

    (sorry for my English)

Can you post the entire error?

When you change the IP, it seems to be invalidating your session. Can you login after that error? Otherwise, I would try changing the IP with omv-firstaid from the command line.

    That was painful...

Are you changing the hostname when you change the IP address? Samba is having an issue with the change.

No, I didn't change the hostname. How can I change it?

I'm not saying you need to change it. Samba doesn't like hostnames longer than 13 characters though. Is your current hostname longer than that?

My current hostname is "newopenmediavault.local", but please note that with this hostname and another IP everything works fine.

Linux has no problem with a long hostname but samba (because of Windows) does not work with hostnames longer than 13 characters. You need to change your hostname.

    sudo hostnamectl set-hostname newomv

    it still doesn't work.

The error message would really help unless it is exactly the same.

But I just thought about it and the database still has the old name in it. You will probably have to edit it in /etc/openmediavault/config.xml

This is the <interface> section of /etc/openmediavault/config.xml

  • Sorry...
