OMV6 reboots when applying configuration change

  • Hi,

When applying any configuration change, omv reboot!? Is-It normal?

For example, if I update my nfs share config, save, then apply new config, the cpu process to finally have “504 - Gateway Time-out” error message then after few seconds omv reboot.

And after reboot, new config is applied…. but docker containers are stopped.

Same behavior when applying omv update (sudo omv-upgrade).

I never notice this with previous version.

I’m running OMV6.4.5-1 through Pi3 with usage of Samba & Nfs shares and omv extra/docker.

    If somebody has an idea….

It isn't OMV rebooting. On a slow, low ram device like an RPi3, you can run out of memory. Or your SD card could be failing. I would curious to see if the following command on the command line would make it reboot:

    sudo omv-salt deploy run nfs

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.2 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4 | scripts 7.0.1

omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

  • I'm fully agree with the possibility of RAM issue. Maybe also the SD; I boot from usb slot with an SD card adaptor and SD is quite old.

The salt run proves that the nfs changes themselves are not causing the reboot. Applying changes from the web interface will use more ram because php is involved. But it is hard to say if it is ram or the SD card.

  • I finally reinstall docker (with compose 6.8), and it seems to be stable.... :P

Maybe something wrong occurs during previous installation with 6.7 compose; :/ Let's check in coming days.

I've got one question for you concerning new docker compose.

How is manage the log ?

And in particular the size, shall we need to specify a size limitation for our container yaml ?

I ask this because I remind I met an issue where logs fill the SD using OMV4 & docker =O

    Thank you for your help.

Assuming you mean the container log, you can specify that in your compose file if you need to limit the size.

I wouldn't put docker stuff on an SD card.
