ZFS - Designation on Paity Drive, Z1

  • Is there a way to designate which of the three drives of a Z1, 3 HDD setup is the Parity drive?

    -

I have successfully installed the Proxmox Kernel and the OMV-ZFS plug-in.

But, I don't understand how to designate the Parity drive.

My understanding of regular ZFS 3-HDD system is that It uses a single drive for Parody & 2 drives for data.

Unlike like a Raid 5 setup with the parody info spread across all drives.

Please let me know if it is possible to designate a specific HDD as the Parity Drive.

    Thank you very much,

    Mark

No. raid z1 puts parity on all drives just like raid 5. https://www.ixsystems.com/docu…eenas/11.2/zfsprimer.html

Why would you want to? WIth raid, you really should use identical disks for the array disks. A cache disk might be different but that is a different story.
