Samba - Condition: start condition failed

Dear all,

I noticed that Samba got reported in systemctl as condition failed.

systemctl status samba reports the following:

samba-ad-dc.service - Samba AD Daemon
     Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/samba-ad-dc.service; enabled; preset: enabled)
     Active: inactive (dead) (Result: exec-condition) since Sat 2024-03-09 06:03:02 CET; 1 day 4h ago
  Condition: start condition failed at Sat 2024-03-09 06:02:59 CET; 1 day 4h ago
       Docs: man:samba(8)
             man:samba(7)
             man:smb.conf(5)
        CPU: 35ms

Despite this, Samba seems to work. Maybe just a cosmetic error?

There are two different services on your system samba-ad-dc.service and smb.service. It's the later that provides SMB/CIFS shares when the smb server works in "standalone" mode. The normal condition for samba-ad-dc.service on a running system is this:

Thank you very much Krisbee. I am not sure I fully understand what it means. Are you telling me all is working as supposed, and I should set the thread to being resolved?

Yes. All you need to focus on is the smb,.service. You can always check it's status via the WebUI at Diagnostics > Services > SMB/CIFS.
