Hello, I am currently mounting a virtual RAID disk from a Dell PERC R730P for OMV storage. When all drives are working, I have 6x 6TB drives in RAID 6 plus 1x hot spare. This is been working great for years. I recently ran into a problem. When a drive fails I am having difficulty getting the PERC card to accept the new disk. I am replacing with the exact same PN but the newer firmware is slightly different which seems to cause the Dell PERC card to fail the drive. I cannot find a drive with the same PN and FW as I have today.
Would software RAID be more tolerant of identical drives that have different firmware levels or maybe even different brand drives? 7.0.5-1 (Sandworm)
