fix raid1 omv6

    Approved the thread.
  • The correct method is:

    1. Using the WEbUI software raid tab, chose "remove" to remove the failed drive from the array. The array status should change to "clean degraded".

    2. Power down machine.

    3. Make the physical swap, bad drive for new. Note new drive serial number etc for ease of identification.

    4. Power and boot machine.

    5. Identify new disk in OMV WEbUI disks tab and note it's device name. e.g /dev/sdc. wipe the new disk.

    6. Using the WEbUI software raid tab, chose "recover" to add the new disk to the array, selecting the correct device name.

    7. The array state should change to clean syncing. Wait for re-sysnc to complete and check final status of array.

  • Thanks for your help but in RAID I had nothing and I couldn't delete the failed disk.

    That's how I managed.

So for those to whom it will happen here's how I did it.

1: I saved the content of the disk still valid with the following software “Diskinternals linux recovery” + a sata/usb interface.

2: Replaced the broken disk and reassembled the still ok disk.

3: under omv go to: storage , then software raid , click on the +, select Raid1 , the two disks Sdb and Sdc , validate , then you get a frightening message then ok.

Re-synchronization starts (although it takes a while), but it's up and running.

4:Still in Storage, shared folders, select the folder you want to run on your raid, edit it and select MD0, then confirm.

    5:Restart the NAS

    6: It's working again.

Well, after that I activated smart, but I won't be doing a tutorial here, because the option settings I've made are just random (given the explanations provided by omv), so it's still being tested.

Courage and tenacity with OMV you'll get it or you won't.
